The minutes from the December meeting were approved. Also, the process for releasing the minutes was approved. It was decided to rotate the minute-taking, to avoid any single member becoming the defacto secretary. Tim and Steve have been taking minutes. Olof and Kees volunteered to take the minutes in February.
A poll was conducted regarding the location for Plumbers in 2020. Austin is off the table, butMontreal and Quebec city are still in contention. Chris will work with Angela as the LF researches different venue options.
Jon has requested feedback on changes to the Indico software, for managing the event, but has not gotten much feedback. Some TAB members missed the request. Jon will send it again. There may be funding available to contract with someone to get needed changes made in Indico upstream. Jon will check if there is someone interested in this work.
Work on adding more Code of Conduct committee members was postponed. Olof will start an e-mail thread on this next week.
Shaohua Li, the maintainer of MD RAID subsystem in the kernel, passed away. Jens Axboe is taking over temporarily. There appear to be candidates for a new maintainer. The TAB does not have a direct role in maintainer replacement, but the TAB members discussed the situation. It might be good to add something to the Maintainers guide about these types of situations, and succession plans in general (using group maintainer models, grooming replacements, etc.)
There was much discussion about expanding the voting pool for the TAB election process. In general, there was consensus to add absentee voting, in addition to the current system requiring physical presence at the kernel summit. Lots of ideas about the voting process were discussed. Laura will write up a draft proposal, and something will be circulated publicly for review and feedback.
